Congratulations Canterbury Riders!

2020 Applejack and Mini Applejack High Jump Competitions

On Saturday July 25, 2020, the annual Applejack and Mini Applejack Memorial High Jump competitions were held at Canterbury Manor Stables.   This special competition is named for world champion and Grand Prix winner Diamond’s Applejack….a homebred Canterbury horse. He jumped the Applejack jump at 6’3″ – and during his career jumped 7′. Re-Opening Canterbury!

We are excited to announce that we are at a stage that Canterbury can start to re-open for business!  This is based on: Governor Holcomb announcing that Indiana can move to Stage 3 beginning on May 22.  This allows gatherings of up to 100 people and non-contact recreational sports are allowed to practice. Canterbury and COVID, Update #2

Unfortunately, due to the current COVID pandemic, the following restrictions have been put into place: Formal group lessons are cancelled.  Sandy may reach out to individual riders for private or semi-private instruction. The show on April 11 has been cancelled. Boarders and lessees (leasers?) may continue to come to the barn for horse care and flat riding, provided that everyone in your household is well, as these activities are considered care of livestock and are therefore permitted during the Essential Travel Only order. Canterbury and COVID-19

Hi friends – due to the current COVID-19 concerns, Sandy has decided to cancel the Easter Fun Show.  Lessons are still on, though!  Riding is a great way to get outside and enjoy the company of others while still practicing social distancing.  Riders are almost never within 6 feet of each other, and lessons are always well-ventilated, especially since it should be nice enough to ride outside soon.   As of now, the ISHA show on April 11 is still a go. Show Attire – What Exactly Do We Need?!?!

As we get ready to kick off the 2020 Show Season, you may find yourself wondering what exactly your rider needs in order to be show-ready.  At Canterbury Manor Stables, we tend to keep it casual, but there are a few basic rules about attire that you should definitely know. Easter Fun Show!

We are just weeks away from the Easter Fun Show!  Every year, Canterbury hosts two Fun Shows – one near Easter and one near Halloween.  These shows are for riders who are currently taking lessons or boarding at Canterbury.  Classes are a reasonable $5 each, with a $10 fee for using a Canterbury horse (unless you are leasing said horse).  The Easter show is a great opportunity for riders to show off what they have been working hard on all winter long!  Classes include: Beginner Continue reading →
